Musicianship 199L focuses on further developing the aural skills for singing elementary melodies and rhythms, and dictation of melodies, rhythms and harmonies in major and minor keys gained in Musi 198L with increasing levels of rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic nuance and complexity. Specifically, these aural skills involve the identification of intervals, all diatonic triad and seventh chord types, melodic lines of increased melodic and chromatic subtlety, scale familiarity, triad and seventh chord factor recognition; the identification of rhythmic patterns and errors in rhythmic patterns; the writing of dictated melodies, triads, diatonic progressions; the sight-singing of intervals, arpeggios, and melodies employing movable-do solfege in major and (do-based) minor keys, with an increasing presence of chromatic ornamentation and basic modulation to related keys; the ability to tap or sing rhythmic patterns.
