(3 hours) Prerequisites: Successful completion of MUSI 299, MUSI 09530 and admission to the Professional Program in Teacher Education in the College of Education. Study and practical application of methods, materials, and procedures for teaching choral or instrumental performance organizations in the secondary school. Course includes training in the use of the APT and Expanded SCTS 4.0 Evaluation System for supporting and assessing teaching. Emphasis on administration of the middle and high school choral or instrumental program, evaluation and selection of music, program development, recruiting, and rehearsal techniques and effective classroom discipline. Course includes a minimum 21-hour school practicum with assigned teacher. This course should be taken the semester immediately prior to Student Teaching. This course cannot be challenged. Note: Counts for ELR credit.
