As you rise in an organization, new trials related to power and influence emerge. This course is designed to provide organizational leaders with a conceptual framework to navigate the pitfalls associated with the use of power and influence. This includes an understanding of the nature of power, the appropriate use of power, the potential abuse of power, and the pivotal role of influence in leadership. To this end, we will evaluate academic theories with special attention placed on the ethical and theological ramifications of a leader?s decisions. This will be accomplished through readings, class discussion, introspection and journaling, and written assignments. This course cannot be challenged.
