(3 hours) This course will examine the attainment of oral language and vocabulary development, and the natural connections tied to literacy achievement in grades Pre-K-12. The role of language in reading, writing, speaking, and listening will impact a student's performance in school, and these effects will transfer over into adulthood. Topics will include theories of language development, language development stages, speech and language processing, activities that foster language and vocabulary development, language and vocabulary assessments and interventions, and English language learners.
