(1 hour(s)) Aural Skills I focuses on developing the aural skills for singing elementary melodies and rhythms, and dictation of melodies, rhythms, and harmonies in major and minor keys. Specifically, these aural skills involve the identification of intervals, triad and seventh chord types, melodic lines, scales, triad factors; the identification of rhythmic patterns and errors in rhythmic patterns; the writing of dictated melodies, triads, diatonic progressions; the sight-singing of intervals, arpeggios, and melodies employing movable-do solfege in major and (do-based) minor keys; the ability to tap or sing rhythmic patterns. MUSI 198L Aural Skills I also begins an exploration of what it means to be a Christian musician.
