(5 [3-0-2] hour(s)) Prerequisites: NURS 231. This course explores the role and responsibility of nursing in the management of adult patients with medical - surgical conditions. The nursing process is applied with emphasis on critical thinking and evidence based care to address the specific needs of the adult patient with medical - surgical conditions of all body systems. Discussion of nursing and collaborative management of these conditions includes related pathophysiology, diagnostic studies and drug therapy designed to restore physiological functioning, promote risk reduction and support health maintenance following illness.
